As we step in to the new year 2023 and our sixth year of existence, I’m humbled and feel honoured as I take over the responsibility of National President of the Association from the Founder President Ms Thankam Gomez. I’m grateful to have been closely associated with Ms Thankam Gomez, our Founder President since the conception of the very idea of a National level Nursing Association. Then there was timely guidance from Dr Girdhar Gyani and Association of Healthcare Providers (India) where like minded nurse leaders across the country came together in 2017 and the rest is history.
We have been fortunate to have very commited, enthusiastic and focused founder officials - Ms Thankam, Dr Jothi Clara, Ms Subhada and self along with able Executive Council members who worked relentlessly with a sense of purpose and determination. The role of Founder Treasurer gave me the opportunity to know each of the ANEI members which i consider is my biggest strength.
In the last couple of years while we grappled with the chaos and pandemonium of Covid 19; ANEI has made significant progress and walked the talk its motto “Passion to Action”. While the world was shut down and we struggled to save lives; we found time to connect and participate in numerous meaningful activities meant for nurses at large and had two very successful national virtual conferences and few workshops. We could spread our wings to the length and breadth of the country and making 15 State Chapters and contributed to the policy making like suggestions to the National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill. We could contribute effectively to few causes like Patient Safety, supporting the girl child, Green hospital movement etc.
While being proud of our achievements so far, I am quite conscious of the weight of my responsibility to lead the Association for next three years. I do understand that we are passing through a time where our relevance and significance as a national association of nurses has been felt more than ever before. I’m happy to have the new office bearers by my side: Unmona, Vincy and Ajee as Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. During the first year of the tenure, I would be focusing on consolidating the achievements so far, besides ensuring members’ engagement and empowering various committees to enhance their achievements. Needless to say, that adding more members would top the priority in this year too. Empower Hour and Patient Safety Day programs will continue to be online. We shall design more programs to advocate, brainstorm, network, and giving back to the profession by empowering nurses at all levels.
We will be having our first inperson conference ANEICON2023 at Hyderabad on May 26-27th with the theme “Transformational Leadership – Towards Futuristic Healthcare” where we will focus on topics that will decide and determine the future of healthcare in India. We will host 500 delegates from all walks of leadership in healthcare – Clinician leaders, administrators, operations experts, nursing heads, nursing teachers, human resources experts, and leaders in finance and information technology in healthcare.
Please block your calendars and book your tickets to Hyderabad for this flagship event of ANEI.
On behalf of all the members of ANEI, I would like to place on record my sincere gratitude to Thankam for her unparalleled contributions, and Jothi and Shubhada for their untiring efforts and commitment so far. The support of Executive Committee undoubtedly was paramount for all our achievements. I thank all ANEI Members for being the reason behind our strength and request for your active and continued contribution in future.
Looking forward to seeing you at Hyderabad for ANEICON2023.Looking forward to seeing you at Hyderabad for ANEICON2023.
